Cross Fade
from the effects tab in the bottom left panel (you may have to close one of the tabs to close the panel)
When you open the tab you will see video transitions
You will want to pick different transitions and play with
1. "Cross dissolve" is the most common. Click on it and drag it to your timeline clip. At the beginning of a clip it will add a fade in.
2. Create a new title, after it appears in the clips window, drag it to the clip window
3. grab the razor blade, lock the audio remove parts of the video, where you can place other images while there is a voice over.
